Turkey Lurkey Lunch

The Thursday before Thanksgiving we had a special lunch with festive placemats and character hats. We also sang a song with puppets to help us retell the story of the first Thanksgiving. I couldn't get the video to load but your student probably still remembers the song!
Here are some pictures of our lunch:

Quirky Turkey

We love our food activities!! This week I introduced the students to a new writing genre- How to writing. We discussed recipes, steps, ingredient lists and transitional words. With this activity, we followed a recipe to create the edible quirky turkey and then we wrote the recipe in our own words to practice the How To style. The recipe should have come home sometime before the break!
What cute little chefs!

They loved licking the spoons clean😊

Oral Presentation

November's oral presentation was about the students' favorite holiday traditions. Each student seemed excited to share the special experiences you have created for them!

Leighton used colorful notecards with pictures on them as a visual.
Hannah drew pictures to guide what she wanted to share with us.
As you can see, Izzy has a gushing excitement for Christmas! She created a very detailed and interactive poster and she pointed to the pictures as she explained her family's traditions!
Mayer stuck to his presentation with his handy notecards!!

Joseph showed us how he decorates a tree at Christmas.
Laura brought in a scarf she wears during the holiday season when she visits her family up north!
Bryce used notecards and a poster and he didn't need his paper at all!
Nicco showed us how to play one of his favorite games.

Great job!!
