Re-telling Party

Our first re-telling party went very well! The kiddos were great performers and a wonderful audience. I hope that you enjoyed working on this with your student because they were SO excited to show off their work and the pride they had was just glowing! Practicing speaking and getting in front of others can be a scary thing so this is a safe and comfortable setting for students to begin to develop those skills.

And then to end our week we had pizza for lunch! The kids were so exited about the pizza!! Thank you for helping them to reach their reading goal! Keep filling out those pizza charts! I have plenty of free personal pan pizza coupons! We will have a new class incentive goal after Christmas.

Turkey Lurkey Lunch

Pilgrims and Native Americans

Thanksgiving is one of the most fun learning units that we do all year!
Everyone's most favorite activities are learning about the chores that the pilgrim children and Native American children did during the first Thanksgiving.

The girls from both classes practiced sewing, rolling out biscuits and gardening. The boys were in Mrs. Moorer's class building houses and fishing!

Then we read the Legend of the Indian Paintbrush and painted our paper teepees. I didn't get to grab a picture of that! Here we are "weaving" dream catchers and later we decorated them with Native American symbols.

Here are some shots of your cuties working!

These boys wanted to show off the roots they found!!

We read a series of books that included the book The Great Turkey Race so we did one of our own for fun and to talk about how air can push an object.

And caterpillars are so intriguing!

In math, we have been analyzing and describing 2-D and 3-D shapes. Here we are discussing the attributes of 3-D shapes using food! It was a hit:)
