Valentine's Day and President's Day

Valentine's Day was fun! We started by decorating our valentine holders.

Then we had lots of fun passing out our valentines! It was a great way to practice recognizing names and/or sounding them out!

We did some classic Sweetheart candy graphing!

Then we decorated sweet cookies!

I didn't take many pictures during President's week. We learned a lot about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We even snuck in some facts about coins that the kids enjoyed!
Here we just had a little fun with a President's Day snack!

Ella brought a great book about how Abraham Lincoln used his stove top hat-ask your kiddo!

Next week we are learning about Space and we get to go to MOSI!

Q and U get Hitched

Now that your kiddos know all of their letter sounds, we have been learning chunks or two (or three) letters are stuck together and make a new sound. This is when our Chunky Monkey strategy comes in handy! I want to make the chunks as memorable as possible! Since Valentine's Day was last week we put on a little wedding for Q & U!
The procession wasn't complete with the Wedding March playing in the background!

Q & U received a quilt, quarter, queen and a question mark as wedding gifts!

We sent them off with some bubbles!

Then we decorated some hats to wear at the reception!

And of course, we celebrated with wedding cupcakes!

Then pictures with the happy bride and groom!

We have also been practicing measuring so we used some non-standard units to measure our feet! This helped us to understand that the smaller the unit, the more we will need to measure our feet!
